happy sunday

my favourite day of the week is here! sunday is wonderful, i do everything i need to do through the week and then have sunday for a day of resting, reading, dog walking and catching up on the tv ive missed.  after an hour or so lie in i uploaded some photos from friday night, caught up with friends on facebook and re-watched this week's Glee (for the 3rd time).  i'm now dressed, make-up on.  lunch, then making a start on making a cushion cover for emma's 21st gift. i need to make a start as its her birthday in 11days. i also want to make her a birthday card. 

abakhan fabrics is the best shop for fabrics, craft supplies. i was in there over an hour. i think i could be in there weekly now i've found it! i got the cushions and fabric and thread and some buttons. had some help in there otherwise i wouldnt of known where to start.  i picked 2 small cushions to start with.  i'm using felt for the cover and tartan swatches for the patterns and letters.  emmas is going to be dark green with different coloured tartan and prints spelling her name in a square two letters next to each other on top of the other two.  hopefully it will look good and the measurements will fit and the fabric wont fray too much.  i picked a blue felt and a floral fabric for myself. i'm going to make one for my bedroom too.

creative ideas

so, i've given purses a little go.. tres hard! a lot harder than i thought it would be. fabric fraying, measurements, cutting straight! threading the needle. i did give it a go and made 2.5 purses. not pleased with any of them. they look very amature and thready.. i might come back to them when i've got better with my sewing and cutting.

my head is full of ideas, i keep being inspired.

new year, new hobbies

so i've set up this blog as an outlet to my creativity.  i get to be somewhat creative at work but having done that job a while now i'm wanting something new to sink my teeth in to...

i'm starting this blog to keep fashion in my life.  i hope that other people see it and enjoy it.

another idea i have had to be more creative is making accessories and maybe even clothes.  i'm going to learn to sew.  by hand at first then if it's going well and i'm enjoying it i'll invest in a sewing machine.

today i've been to the local fabric shops and got some swatches to try out my ideas.  i'll upload some pictures to show how i'm getting along.
